1.Read the text given below and answer the questions that follow. 

We had kite 


Complete the following sentences with informations from the text. 
a) The narator's elbow went clear through the kite, making a big hole.
b) After patching the kite they dried by the fire.
c) The kite soared like a bird in the glorious wind.

2. Rewrite the sentences according to the instructions given in brackets. 
a) She had read the story. (Change the voice) 
Ans : The story had been read by her. 

b) He asked his friends, "Are you going to play today? "(Change into Indirect Speech)  
Ans: He asked his friends if they were going to play that day. 

c) The old man was too tired to walk. (Rewrite the sentence using 'so.... that')
Ans: The old man was so tired that he couldn't walk. 

3. Write a story using the following points. 
(a fisherman went to sea -- a storm rose -- the boat wrecked -- he fell into the sea -- floated for five days -- only drank rain water -- rescued by a ship  -- returned home) 

        Fortune Favoured A Boat Wrecked                                       Fisherman 

             Of late fisherman Animal owned a new boat. In the meantime he went to fishing and came back successfully. But that day nature came out hostile. Suddenly a violent storm rose in the sky. The boat was spun by arrogant gush of wind. A massive wave lofted the boat to a high and dropped down. At once it was wrecked. The boatman helplessly fell into the sea. He started to swim across the strong current. Once he failed to paddle his arms to stay 
afloat. Suddenly the drowning boatman found a burnt log. He managed to ride on it. He only drank rain water.Thus he was floating for five days. He only waged his hands desperately when he saw a ship passing by. He was rescued by that ship. Later the fisherman returned home.

Moral: Stay tuned to hope.
